How to File MCS-150

There are two options for filing the USDOT Number. They include:

Filling online

  • All applicants must print the required form before completing the online forms.
  • Visit the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Online. Registration System to complete and submit application forms.
  • After submission, FMCSA will issue a USDOT Number for the trucking company.

When to file MCS-150

The second to last number in your USDOT Number determine what year to file for the MCS-150 update. You need to file for MCS-150 every odd-numbered calendar year if the number is odd and every even-numbered calendar year if it is even. The last number in your USDOT Number determines what month to file your biennial update.
